Financially-Savvy Fashion Tips

by Willow Editorial Team

Meet Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard, two sisters-in-law celebrity designers filling up racks with their coveted label. After launching their brand 10 years ago, their chic and versatile products have become a must-have in many women’s wardrobes, including their classic Dickey Jacket and denim

Willow recently sat down with the Veronicas to discuss all about work from home fashion and shopping tips.

Willow: We hear that Veronica Beard is coming to Boston (where Willow is headquartered!) What are the details and timing?

Veronica Swanson Beard: We’re excited to open our first Boston location at 143 Newbury Street and while we’re still working on the design details, we will be opening our doors by the end of the year.

Willow: Since a lot of women are working from home this fall, what’s the number one fashion item she needs to have to own that Zoom meeting?

Veronica Miele Beard: A dickey jacket that she can throw on over anything! The interchangeable dickey inserts make it easy to transform your look no matter the occasion—whether that’s working from home or running errands.

Willow: As a mom and business leader, what are some tips to manage working from home while balancing work, family, friends and yourself amid the pandemic?

VMB: It’s hard, but try to do what’s best for you and your family! When you’re WFH, find a quiet place to take your calls—for me, the only quiet place is my car.

VSB: I don’t really have a home office, so I turned the basement—where my boys usually play knee hockey—into my bunker where I can get work done, practice yoga and take Zoom calls. Try to make a space your own if you can and enjoy the time with your kids that you may have missed over the years!

Willow: Where do you splurge and where do you save when it comes to fashion?

VSB: I would splurge on a great coat that you’ll wear all the time and save on the basics like t-shirts and pieces that aren’t the main focus of your outfit.

Willow: What’s your top financially-savvy fashion tip for the fall?

VMB: Invest in a piece you can transition from work to weekend, like a classic dickey jacket.

VSB: You can also find great pieces in vintage stores instead of buying new!
